The Unforgettable Story
Section 55

Oh. No. gabe. What was he just thinking? Quickly Kirana kept the thought away from her head. Remember, this guy is dangerous. And he had lied to her just to get her body. Sucks. He was angry with her but could not deny that the man had given her a child he had wished for. Argha!

“Are you afraid I'll trap you with my charms?” god with a proud tone.

“You're my boss. I can't have dinner alone with you.” he said objecting.

Of course he wouldn't tell her the real reason. He had to pick William up from daycare. There was never anyone to look after his son at night other than him. Therefore, he always took her with him if he had to attend the event at the end of work. But he wouldn't have done it if it involved Miles.

What would the man do if he knew that their meeting six years ago had given them a child? No one could doubt that William with his blond hair and bright blue eyes was Miles' son. Counting his age makes it easier for Miles to figure out that he is William's real father.

If the man ignored that fact and ignored William, things would be easier. If seeing her having a child would keep the man away from her, she would be very happy. But what if Miles took it from him? Or, what if he imposes a will on her by threatening to take her son if she does not comply with all the man's requests?

“I made the rules in my company. I don't remember one of them being a prohibition of fellow co-workers to be in a relationship.” Miles rubbed his cheek. Kirana resisted the urge to close her eyes and enjoy the touch. He must keep his mind sane.

“My answer remains no.” He gave the man a tired look. Why can't he accept no? He won't change his mind about the dinner offer.

“Are you afraid I'll run away like you did to me six years ago? Good. Then marry me.” He looked at the woman right in both eyes, stating that he was not joking with her.

Kirana. That last sentence repeatedly echoed in his head. Be married? Marry her? Kirana looked at him in disbelief. Who is this man standing before him? What is in his head so dare to invite him to marry without first knowing him well? Why Kirana? Why would that man want to marry her? She's not pretty, she's not attractive at all. When they stood together, people would obviously sneer at the man. He doesn't deserve Miles.

“I'm serious, Kirana Paramitha. I don't want just one night or three nights together. But I want to be with you every night, forever.” Miles rubbed the wrinkles between Kirana's eyebrows with his thumb so that the woman stopped frowning.

“You must be drunk.” accuse Kirana. Miles frowned. “I heard you Brits love to get drunk.”

“Drinking two to three glasses of red or white wine won't get you drunk. What you heard was slander.” The man shook his head.

“If it wasn't because you were drunk, what prompted you to propose to me?” Kirana frowned. Miles smiled. He returned to rub the wrinkles.

“Day with me, I'll tell you everything.” Miles touched the tip of his nose to the woman's nose.

“No.” replied Kirana, this time a little doubtful. She wanted to know everything, but what if the man tried to frame her again? He said he was not married, but he was married for a dozen years when they first met. Now that he said he would tell her everything he wanted to know, what if he lied to her again?

“Both.” replied Kirana quickly. Miles laughing.

“You haven't heard what I want to offer you and you instantly replied no?” goda.

“I know that you are confused. You just grieved the death of your wife. Then meet the woman in your illusion. You think marrying him would be the answer to overcoming your loneliness.” Kirana is back trying to escape Miles' embrace. He sighed irritatedly the man again tightened his embrace.

“I'm not lonely because my wife died. I'm lonely because you left me, Juliett.” Miles said seriously. Kirana rounded her eyes. He frowned not understanding. “For me you are real, Kirana, not an illusion. If you don't want to eat with me tonight, fine. I'll tell you everything now.”

“No.” He shook his head.

“What?” ask Miles surprised. He shouldn't be surprised that way. Kirana answered not repeatedly. The man himself kept asking her questions and offering things that Kirana did not want.

“I already answered no. So, you don't have to tell me anything.” Kirana insisted.

“I deserve one chance to prove that I am serious about my words and my intention to marry you, Kirana. You can't just reject me.” said Miles half-threatening. He was right and, of course at the same time, he was wrong.

“I know I also have the right to accept or reject applications that come to me, Miles. You can't force me to do your will.” challenge Kirana. Miles looked at him for a moment and smiled. He let go of his embrace.

“So, what happened in Singapore remains in Singapore?” tanyanya asked for confirmation. Kirana immediately took one step back before the man grabbed her again.

“True.” replied Kirana firmly.

“Please return to your office.” Miles turned around, opened the door, and came out of the toilet. Kirana gave a sigh of relief. He immediately leaned his body against the wall while sighing deeply. His right hand touched his chest, trying to calm his heartbeat.

The next day, Kirana makes sure that Miles is not around when she returns to the office after lunch break. Relieved that the man did not exist as far as the eye could see, Kirana walked towards the elevator. When the elevator door opened, he held his breath. The man was there. He simply smiled then stepped out of the elevator with others without greeting or trying to get close to him. Kirana again sighed in relief.

Inside his room, he immersed himself in work. Hearing the sound of an email coming in, he turned to his laptop screen. His forehead was wrinkled to read the name of the sender of the email. Fearing it was an important message, he opened the email he received from the assistant director. His eyes were round after reading the message.

He will travel to Singapore this weekend with the chief director to attend a conference on marketing. He did not read wrong. The two names that appear on the screen are his name and Miles. No one else was with them. There's only the two of them.
