Kirana dreams she's lifted out of bed. Not long after, he was in a sitting position on a bed again and leaned against the headboard. He opened his eyes. Miles's right. He doesn't have lunch, he can't miss dinner either. There is a fetus that needs nutritional intake to continue to grow in his womb. But he was so sleepy that he could not fight the heaviness in his eyes.
“This is your favorite warm chocolate. Drink.” Miles' voice was right next to him. Kirana opened her eyes again. Since he saw the man sitting by his side, he wrapped his hands around the man's waist and rested his head on his shoulders. This is what he calls home.
“Kirana, you have to wake up now.” said Miles firmly. Kirana pouting.
“Iya, yes. You don't have to be so fierce.” Kirana receives a mug from Miles and gulps a warm chocolate inside. When he feels enough, he returns the mug to Miles.
“You should finish your meal. I seriously. Everything.” Miles placed a large plate on Kirana's lap. He groaned softly looking at the food in large portions on it.
“Miles, this is a lot.” protest Kirana.
“Didn't you usually eat in large portions?” ask Miles wonder. Yes, he's right. But right now he only wanted to eat enough because he wanted to sleep. Kirana shook her head.
“I don't want smooth potatoes. Can you just give me some fries?” Kirana looked at Miles with a wailing look that almost melted her heart. Almost.
“You and William are equally irritating. Can't do. You have to eat that. This potato is much healthier.” Miles insisted.
“He's my son. Of course we have the same taste.” Kirana stuffed the potatoes into her mouth with a fork. He muttered softly praising his delicacy. “This is so good.” Miles laughed a little. In an instant he had already finished all his food and drinks.
“I'll be back soon.” Miles steals a kiss before standing up. He carried the tray with the empty plate, mug, and glass out of the room.
Unable to hold herself back, Kirana fell asleep again. He could not open his eyes as someone laid him on the bed. Sighing in relief, he fixed his sleeping position, looking for a comfortable position. The bed swayed as one lay behind it.
A large and heavy hand wrapped around his body and spread his palm on his stomach. But he did not complain about the weight of the arm. Their backs become warm when their bodies are close. A lazy kiss moves from her back neck down to her ears and ends on her shoulders.
“Miles,” said Kirana half-whispering.
“Sleep. I'm here.” he replied.
“Will?” ask Kirana worried.
“Sleeping in the next room after forcing me to read two books for her.” Miles laughed a little. Kirana laughed.
“You're lucky. He usually slept when I reached half the page of the first book. I never got to the second book.” Kirana said in a jealous tone.
“Lucky?” peeking Miles choked. “He keeps showering me with questions. If I only read books, I don't mind. Answering her question, I was scared because of what you said last afternoon. That I should be careful when giving an answer.”
“Where is your favorite motto? No matter the judgment of others?” Kirana giggles.
“Funny, Kirana. Funny.” said Miles sarcasm. Kirana smiled. “The child is very smart, active, and healthy. Thank you for raising her, Kirana. You are a great mother.” Miles kissed her shoulder. Tears pressed out from Kirana's eyes, deeply moved.
“I don't want to raise him alone anymore, Miles.” Kirana said sobbing. He felt Miles tighten his embrace.
“We almost lost her.” isak Kirana is so sad.
“And I managed to get it back.” Miles tried to calm him down. “I won't let anyone take him from our side. If anyone dares to try to do it again, we will definitely find it back. As long as I live, I will protect you and Will with all my might. Relax, sweetheart.”
“Do you think they will do it again?” Kirana was so eager to open her eyes but could not.
“I don't know. We don't know who planned the kidnapping. Once the police know who did it, we'll put them in jail.” Miles assured him.
“I don't think I have any enemies. How about you?”
“My suspicions fell on my wife's family. They are the only people on this earth who have the motive to hurt me and my loved ones.”
“Why? What's your fault with them?”
“They couldn't accept Angelica's death to this day. They still blame me for his death. I have made every effort to give understanding. The result is nil.” said Miles slowly. “They must have known Will's whereabouts from the men who followed me since yesterday. I don't know, maybe longer than that. That's if they pay the guy. They always think the worst of me.”
“Seeing William and guessing his age is easy. I can imagine them digesting every fact in their heads, and concluding that I betrayed my wife.” Miles gulped heavily. “Ticking me is now easy. They can do it through you and William.”
“We'll keep Will together. No one can get close to him.” Everything related to protecting her son makes Kirana strong.
“And I'll make sure you two are always safe.”
“Then what about you? Who will protect you?” ask Kirana.
“Sweetheart, of course you will. To whom else would I entrust my life?” Miles stroked his cheek.
“Sorry I didn't tell you about him sooner.” whispered Kirana full of regrets.
“We talked about it. I understand.”
Kirana opened her eyes. Suddenly he was no longer sleepy. He turned around and lay face to face with Miles. The man shifted to give him a place. For a moment, he just looked at her. The most handsome man he's ever seen in a lifetime. Then his hand caressed her cheek. The fine hair covering her cheeks and jaw began to grow. The man closed his eyes. Kirana smiled and kissed her lips. Miles returned his kiss reluctantly.
“Kirana, you need rest.” Miles knows exactly what he wants without having to say it. He smiled looking at the rays of worry in those beautiful blue eyes.
“I want you, Miles. Need you. I can sleep well after this.” pinta Kirana. Miles smiled. He would never refuse his request, let alone that one.
Miles is the first man who has never turned him down. After their first night together, she persuaded him to move into her room. When the holidays were over, she was also the one begging for them to be together even longer. When they finally met again, he also took the initiative to repeat their story back. And now that Kirana works in for him, he doesn't stop proposing to her, no matter how much pain Kirana refuses him.
Could there be such a wonderful reality? Could this not be a dream? Will he wake up and find himself again? Can he find a way to be by Miles' side again when he loses it? Does he really love her with all his heart? Could there be a man who could love her? Or is Miles just confused by his own feelings?
