The Unforgettable Story

The Unforgettable Story
Section 28

Kirana knew that the kindness Vivian showed her would one day change. His best friend's wife did it first. There will be no woman who is not jealous to see her lover or husband familiar with another woman. Even if the woman is a good friend or friend since their childhood.

He just didn't expect the same thing would happen to Dexter. Vivian was so understanding and kind to him, when they were still dating until marriage. Kirana was not careful. But he didn't do it intentionally. Since childhood he and his best friend were used to touching hands, heads, embracing or hugging. They do not do it excessively as lovers do.

They are also used to sharing what is going on in their lives. Likes or sorrows. Crying or laughter. Dexter was always there for her. Butno. From now on, he only has himself. He could no longer rely on his best friend. They will be friends, of course. He won't be able to just throw Dexter out of his life. But he needs to keep his distance so as not to hurt his wife.

The next day, Kirana wears her work clothes, puts on makeup, and does her hair. Accustomed to tying her hair behind her head, this time she let it slide. He smiled looking at his reflection in the mirror. Romeo's right. Her hair was beautiful and she looked different to her black hair that was free-falling framing her face.

The bus was one of the things she missed in her town. Down right in front of his office building, he smiled seeing the situation was still the same. A security officer greeted him kindly. Kirana replied with the same hospitality. Entering the elevator, he smiled at the people who had been inside. Before the door closed someone rushed into the elevator. As soon as she recognized the man standing by her side, Kirana prayed in her heart that she would keep her mouth shut until she reached her destination floor.

“Hey, hey. See who's in the office today.” he said sarcasm. Of course the man would say anything he wanted when he saw her. Kirana was silent. The man looked towards the bag he was carrying. His smile is getting wider. “What was your holiday fun? Singapore, right? Any souvenirs for me?”

Seeing that Kirana was silent, she did not give up. “Kirana, Kirana. You are full of surprises. Everyone is shocked by what you dare to do with this company. No one thought that you could do that low.”

Kirana was silent. The man laughed a little. “It wasn't the first ‘kan? You must have done it before. Tell me, where is all that money you saved?”

For that one last sentence, Kirana gave a response. He rounded his eyes and turned towards Caraka. The man laughed out loud. The people around them immediately told him to shut up. But the man doesn't care. He opened his mouth again ready to say his next sentence.

“Shut your mouth, Caraka. Your voice echoed in this elevator.” said a woman from behind them. Kirana looked back and saw Tamara, the head of the finance department, standing right behind her.

“Ba, fine, mom. Forgive me.” said Caraka fast. He stood in silence and stopped mocking Kirana. Tamara smiled at Kirana, she returned her smile.

Kirana's mind returned to the last sentence Caraka said. The money? What money? Why did he ask where he kept all that money? Something must have happened while he was gone. Seeing the facial expressions of her subordinates as she walked towards her study, Kirana knew that something bad had happened. He immediately asked his assistant to follow him into his room.

“I don't want to hear my schedule today. Tell me, what has happened as long as I'm not in the office?” push Kirana while putting her bag on the table and stand by leaning her hips on the table. Ruby closed the door.

“That,” says his assistant hesitates.

“Precise speaking, Ruby. I didn't call you to punish you. I want to know what happened that I do not know.” Kirana said impatiently.

Ruby took a deep breath and looked towards Kirana right into her two eyes. “Begini, Kirana. Yesterday the director came into this room. I followed him and from the desk drawer you found a lot of money. Much, Kirana. I didn't count it, but reportedly it was about seven hundred million.” Kirana opened her mouth and widened her eyes.

“Nobody knows, Kirana. Only the director and the security guards entered the room. The accusation that you have stolen company money has spread throughout the company.” Ruby said slowly. Of course, no one could hide such an important issue from other employees.

“Good. Any message from the director or deputy director for me?” ask Kirana. Ruby nodded.

“If the director sir has arrived, I will be told to ask you to come to his office.”

“Good. Immediately contact me.” he said let Ruby out. But the woman stood in her place.

“Kirana, I know that you didn't do it.” said his assistant honestly. “You will get full support from me. I'll help you as much as I can. If something happens, you should know that I am here for you.”

“I know, Ruby. Thank you.” Kirana took the package she was carrying. “It's a by-by for all of you.”

“Thank you, Kirana.” said Ruby while receiving the package.

Kirana sat in her chair as soon as her assistant walked out of her room. Steal. He was accused of stealing the company's money. During the twelve years of service and careful every time making the financial statements of the project entrusted to him, suddenly a certain amount of money was found in his drawer. Without hearing her explanation, he was accused of stealing? If he wanted to do it, he'd have done it a long time ago. No need to wait twelve years.

Some deliberately waited until he left to put money into his desk drawer. Why not just put it in his closet? Ah, of course you can't. The closet is always locked. Yes, only these two drawers can be easily opened by anyone, including by people who want to trap them.

Too bad there are no surveillance cameras in the room. He looked towards the four corners of his room, nor were there any surveillance cameras outside his door. Surveillance cameras are only in the elevator. It was too difficult to find who the culprit was because the servants who came and went to this floor were quite a lot.

If her boss was smart enough and serious about finding out who the real culprit was, she should have reported it to the police so that they could examine her office carefully. It would not be difficult to find the fingerprints of another suspicious person who had entered his room. Only she and Ruby were routinely near her desk. If fingerprints are found other than theirs, then most likely he is the culprit.

The intercom machine sounds. Kirana pressed the lighted button. “Ya, Ruby.”

“Pak director is waiting for you in his room.” reports his assistant.

Kirana sighed softly. “Good. I'll be there soon. Thank you.”
