The Unforgettable Story
Section 27

Hearing the subtle roar of Dexter's car, he exited the house carrying the package earlier. Dexter immediately hugged him, as did his wife. Kirana gave them the gift she brought. Vivian cheered happily to receive it.

“You just arrived?” ask Vivian. Kirana nodded.

“How was your holiday?” asked Dexter enthusiastically.

“Exciting.” replied Kirana.

“Come, we continue to talk inside.” take Vivian while opening the door of their house. Kirana nodded. Dexter put his hand on his best friend's shoulder.

“Are you okay? What do you expect from this holiday you get while there?” ask Dexter with the sarcasm. Kirana laughed a little.

“Seriously, Dex? Is that the best you can say?” kirana Goda.

“If you listen to him all day, you will understand why I need more patience to be able to live with him.” Vivian said. Kirana laughs.

“Hey, hey. As for the two of you and myself, you guys allied against me?” dexter pretended to be angry.

“That's called female solidarity, Drew.” Kirana said amusedly. He and Vivian clapped their hands in the air. Dexter lets them into the house when he gets back to the car, while the two women walk towards the kitchen.

“You have dinner with us, yes.” invite Vivian. Kirana immediately shook her head. He sat on one of the chairs surrounding their dining table.

“I've eaten at the airport. Thank you.”

“We buy a lot of food. You don't have to worry about taking my ration or Vivi.” Dexter put their grocery bags over the counter.

“Or the little one.” added Vivian while touching her stomach.

“Or little one.” Error Dexter. Kirana laughs amusedly.

“Thank you. Butno. I just want to sleep.” reject it again.

“A cup of warm chocolate, maybe?” vivian asked still trying to change his mind. He stood up and approached the kitchen counter.

“No, thank you.”

“So, you came to see us just to show your tired face then went straight home to sleep? Seriously, Ki? Why not just put your souvenirs in front of our gate.” Dexter said objecting.

“During the day his mood was indeed very bad. Three days without you.” Vivian rolled her eyeballs. Kirana just grinned.

“Sorry, it has made you difficult, Vivi.”

“It's not how much. I've faced worse than that.” Vivian giggles. He opened one of the doors of the kitchen cupboard. “How about you stay for a while until his mood improves. If you don't want warm chocolate, tea maybe?” He showed her a box.

“Good.” Kirana.

Vivian showed her twelve-week-old baby ultrasound. Kirana was fascinated to see him and asked them many questions. When they asked him where he was during the holidays, Dexter was surprised to hear him tell stories about the Merlion Statue, a Thai restaurant, swimming in five-star hotels to visit Universal Studio.

“As I recall, you never want to go for a walk every time you take a vacation. You prefer to stay in a hotel room. If it wasn't for these photos as proof, I wouldn't believe your story.” Dexter said as he looked at the screen on Kirana's phone.

“I'm curious. Does Kirana really not like traveling?” ask Vivian. Kirana and Dexter simultaneously nodded their heads.

“It's a shame to go on vacation if you only stay in a hotel room.” said Vivian did not believe.

“It's nice to have a wife who agrees with me.” Dexter grabbed his wife's hand and kissed her on the back. Kirana just giggled.

Though he regrets not having a single photo with Romeo or stealing a picture of the man when he doesn't realize it, he can't turn back time. Their relationship has no future. After all they had agreed not to leave any evidence of their meeting there. It was the most appropriate decision.

“Good. It's nice talking to you guys. But I have to go back now.” Kirana. He looked at Dexter meaningfully so as not to forbid him from coming home. The man just sighed softly.

“One more time thanks for the gift, Ki.” said Vivian similarly pointed towards the bag earlier.

“Sama-sama, Vivi.” Kirana said while standing up.

“You shouldn't bother. Thank you, Ki.” said Dexter who stood up.

“Sama-sama, Dex.” said Kirana. His friend approached him. “No. I know the way to the front door. No need to drive me. Stay here with Vivi.”

“Today you suck.” grumbled the man. Kirana chuckled as she walked out of their dining room. That sentence was the one Kirana used to use when she was upset. Dexter.

Before reaching for the door of Dexter's house, Kirana stopped. He's raking in his pants pocket. He realized that he had forgotten to bring the keys to the house with him. Recalling where he saw her last time, he then shook his head slowly with a smile. The last time he held it was in the dining room. He went back to the dining room.

“Thank you, Ki. Equally, Dex.” Vivian's voice was heard. “I'm sick of seeing you guys behave as if you're just friends but you don't stop touching each other!”

Kirana stopped her steps near the door leading to the dining room. He's leaning against the wall. One of his hands pressed against his chest. His heart almost stopped beating hearing that sentence. Did he not hear wrong?

“We're just friends, Vivi. You know it. Didn't you also not mind our closeness?”

“I don't mind because I want to win your heart. I want to be your wife. That's why I refrain from protesting with your closeness. If I object, will you choose me over him? Definitely not. You definitely prefer him.” Vivian protests. “Now the case is different. I'm your wife. I have the right to ask you to keep my feelings.”

“He's my best friend since childhood, Vivi. Of course we're close. We grew up together. What's wrong with you? You were so nice and sweet to him. Where did all these protests come from?”

“I can't take it anymore. I can't take it anymore, Dex! You can't see him anymore!”

“But, why not?” ask Dexter wonder.

“Because I got hurt seeing you guys so familiar. I don't like to see the way you stare and touch it!” pekik Vivian is upset.

“Pass your voice, baby. Kiki lives next door. I don't want him to hear all this.” Dexter tried to calm his wife.

“Why don't you want him to hear it? Are you afraid he's hurt? So, you'd rather keep her feelings than your own wife's?” feelings

“Not so. Oh. He left the keys to his house. Let me drop this key for a second. He must be confused looking for her.” Kirana heard the sound of the chair shifting. He could not hide any longer.

“No need, Dex. I'm here.” Kirana said as she entered the kitchen.

He saw two pairs of eyes looking at him in surprise. Vivian looked at her husband, turned her head back towards Kirana, then her mouth opened and closed not knowing what to say. Dexter looked at her guiltily and apologized in silence. Kirana smiled.

“No need to see me like that. I'm doing fine. What you said is true, Vivi. If I were to get married, I would feel the same way when I see my own husband so close to another woman. Although she was his best friend since childhood.”

“I,” said Vivian slowly. Kirana turned towards Dexter.

“Don't be too hard on your wife. Of course he's right.” Kirana takes the keys to her house from Dexter's grasp. “She's your wife. You have to make him your first priority.”

“Ki,” says Dexter.

“We're still friends, Dex. I'm still your friend, Vivi. If you need anything, I'll stay next door. But for a while I'll stay away. I'm sorry I got you guys into a fight. I didn't mean to disturb your relationship. Really.” Kirana took one step back. “One more time, thanks for the tea, Vivi.”

Kirana turned her body and walked out of her best friend's house in definite steps. He just let tears from wanting to spill once he was in his room. After losing Romeo, he lost one of his best friends. Maybe God has already started the punishment for him.
