The man finally faced the table and looked at the file before him. The man sitting in the middle said something to him and the man nodded slowly. The minutes of waiting for the man to look at him were excruciating. He could not wait to look into his bright blue eyes again.

“Kirana Paramitha.” said the man while reading the map in front of him. He put his phone on the table. Kirana took a deep breath before answering.

“Iya.” said.

He saw the man stop flicking open the sheet of paper before him as soon as he heard his voice. Yeah, six years and they don't forget each other. The man raised his head slowly. When their eyes finally met, Kirana put on a formal facial expression as possible.

He saw it first, so he was one step better prepared with the impact from meeting their eyes. He squeezed his hand that was on top of his lap, preventing him from touching his left chest. His habit whenever he wanted to calm the rumbling of his heartbeat.

But the man could not prevent himself from being honest. Eyes rounded. His mouth opened and closed as if he wanted to say something but immediately shut his intentions. The man gulped showing that he was a little nervous. Kirana was also nervous. The man took a deep breath and took it out slowly. After clearing his throat, he opened the file in front of him.

“Based on your history list, you have worked in another company for twelve years before working in our branch office.” He raised his head then looked at Kirana right in the eyes. “Why did you leave that company after working so long there?”

Kirana could not immediately answer that question. The man named Miles speaks Indonesian very well. He could even speak it eloquently. There was no accent to his voice. He usually hears typical accents from those whose native language is English. Most likely he has lived in Indonesia for a long time. Probably as long as the age of the company.

“I didn't leave that company, sir. I was fired with a proper severance as a farewell.” He was finally able to answer after a moment of silence.

“What's the reason they fired you?” tanyanya seriously. Kirana took a long breath.

“It's not my right to tell it, sir. If the company does not tell you, then I can not tell you.” the answer is hesitant. It is customary that every large company will confirm to the previous company when it receives new employees who already have work experience.

“So, you mean, there was no mistake on your side until you got fired? You bestowed the mistake entirely on the old company?” his challenge.

“Once again I apologize. It's a company secret, Mr.” Kirana insisted.

“Are you an honest person, Kirana?” tanyanya while challenging Kirana with her gaze.

“Iya.” answer without hesitation.

“Professional and with integrity?”

“Iya, Sir.”

“Then how could you be fired by your company?” ask the man confused. Kirana could not answer him honestly. “That's a quality that is hard to resist by a good company.”

“I get a reference letter from a senior colleague who already worked at the company.” Kirana put the letter on the table. The director immediately took it. He looked at her for a moment before reading the letter. “Honestly, professionally, and with integrity is one of many of my characters mentioned in the letter.”

“Head of finance. Great also you can be good friends with people from the financial section.” The man gave the letter to the man sitting in the middle. “Good. If you don't want to tell me why until you get fired. How much salary do you ask?”

“Only three million?” he said the man was surprised. “Are you sure? If not plugged, then your salary is still far from the standard salary of the head of marketing at this headquarters.”

“With pleasure, I received the amount you offer.” he replied. The man smiled with a beautiful smile. Kirana really wanted to run out of the room or throw the two men away so that she could return her smile. That awkward situation killed him.

The two of them knew each other, right, and he had to be formal? His heart also did not help him at all by beating so fast as if asking him to do something to calm his pulse. But he can't. How could she run up to the man to hug him and kiss him here. Even though that was all he was thinking about right now.

And that handsome guy didn't help her either. How could he look at her with such a gaze the entire time? He should have looked at the file on the desk, or the letter he had just given. Wherever it came from instead of looking into his eyes. The man's eyes reminded him of all the good times they spent together in bed. This is not a good time to reminisce.

“Did you ever steal, Kirana?” The man squinted his eyes. The situation suddenly changed.

“Never, Sir.”

“What should I do if I find out that you stole some money from this company?”

“You have installed surveillance cameras everywhere and I'm sure you have an expert who always supervises the money movement of important job holders in your company, it's easy to know if I'm stealing, you know, Sir. First I will resign. I'll refund all the money I stole and pay the restitution money you requested.”

“If you are not caught?” The man raised his eyebrows.

“You need to improve the surveillance and security system in your company, Sir. What you can't prove, you can't accuse me. If you don't like it, you can fire me.”

“And let the prolonged drama happen when you demand back my company?” He laughed amusedly.

“As was the case with the first company, I will also not sue your company.” replied Kirana quickly. He really needs this job and he will do whatever it takes to convince him that he is the best candidate for the vacant position.

“Thank you. Now I understand why you were fired.” He widened his victorious smile.

This guy is great, Kirana thought. He had not expected to be led through the question earlier to answer the main question. He thought it was all a follow-up question. It turned out that the man was still curious to find the answer to why he was fired from his first place of work. Of course he does not want the same thing to happen to this company. Great director.

“You just worked as the head of marketing for three years at the branch office, do you think that makes you worthy of being chosen in a new position compared to the previous three candidates who have served more than ten years here?”

Kirana spent ten minutes telling her experience, starting from the strategy after strategy she had done and the increase in sales she did, the response from colleagues and superiors. He had only briefly worked at his company, but he was not a person without experience. Lastly, he mentioned some of its advantages and how it would be a boon for the company.

“Why should I trust you? You have only worked for a total of approximately six years at the branch office.” challenge the man.

“The letter of recommendation from my supervisor at the branch office could be one of the guarantees, sir. Or if you want to test me at this point, I am willing to show my ability.” Kirana said confidently. The man smiled. Kirana frowned. What's on his mind now?
