...Synopsis...
17-year-old Jasper spent his holidays in Bulgaria. There, he saves a girl from a deep-rooted tradition of buying and selling in one of the country's cities.
Some time passed, they were reunited in the same classes, majors and university in the city of Birmingham. Because a trap from his classmate makes them have to undergo a marriage that they never imagined before. They had to get married and hide their marital status from everyone, including from a college friend.
"Let's get divorced!" Jasper said to the woman he had been married to for one year.
"Divorce?" Rachel made clear her husband's words.
Jasper nodded. His desire was already unanimous to divorce a wife he did not love. His current determination is to pursue back his first love named Aurora, daughter of his parents' second best friend.
Rachel's heart was so sliced to hear the word divorce from the lips of her husband and classmates at the university. In fact, the forced marriage that they live in has grown love in Rachel's heart. But it was turned upside down with Jasper's heart.
Did the togetherness and time they spent during this one year not stir the young man's heart? Or is Jasper unaware of his true feelings?
Author give a little prologue yes 🤗🤗
Rachel Olivia hurriedly walked into her room. This morning he just got home from work. Rachel is a 17 year old Bulgarian teenager. It was a student. But now he has just finished his school exam. Rachel had to work full time to finance school and other needs. Moreover, Rachel wants to continue her education to the university level. Understandably, Rachel is not a girl who was born from a wealthy family. His family belongs to a lower-middle class who live in the suburb of Stara Zagora, one of the cities in Bulgaria.
"Yes, Mom. Last night I didn't come home because my boss left and I had to keep his son at home" Rachel spoke with her eyes closed. Rachel did work as a baby sitter after the school exam ended.
"Where's the kid?" A middle-aged man was shoved into Rachel's room. He is Rachel's father.
"I was just about to sleep," Rachel squinted her eyes slightly.
"You can't sleep. Awake up!" Rachel's father, Nikolay, pulled the hand of her youngest daughter.
"What's up, dad? I just got home from work" Rachel took Nicolay's hand off hers.
"You can't sleep. Today you have to come to the Kalaidzhi (wedding market) event," Nikolay threw a blanket over his son's body on the floor.
The bridal market is a unique market in Bulgaria. This market is a special market for finding a life partner. In this bridal market, girls who are still virgins will be peddled by their parents to get prospective husbands. There, the men will go around to choose the girl who will be bought to be a wife.
When the men find a suitable girl, they will negotiate with both girls' parents about how much money they have to pay to buy her daughter. Usually the price is adjusted to the appearance of the girl. The more beautiful and charming a girl is, the more expensive it will be.
"Dad? You're gonna sell me at that market?" Rachel's eyes were perfectly rounded.
"Your words are very rude. We're not going to sell you. We just want you to have a life partner immediately so that someone can finance your whole life" said Rachel's mother, Anelia.
"But Mom, I don't want to get married right now. I was just 17 years old. You crazy?" Rachel glared at his eyes. He did not understand the thoughts of his parents. Marriage was not in Rachel's mind. Moreover, they live in continental Europe which incidentally the girls there married if it is mature enough.
"Listen, honey. We can no longer afford to pay for your life. We're just metal craftsmen" Anelia sat next to Rachel.
"But ma'am, haven't I been financing my own life all this time?" Rachel began to shed her tears.
