25. Operation Gods

After being helped by several other waiters, Aya finally realized from her stupor. His head feels floating. Then someone threw a glass of warm tea at him.

"You need this better than me!" said ketus.

Aya looked towards the person next to her. That's Arjuna. He received a warm cup of tea from the man's hand. "Thank you," he said. Then sip the warm and sweet drink slowly.

The warmth of the tea spread in his stomach that felt empty. Gives a comfortable and warm feeling. Added energy to his body.

"What about the Gods? Is he out?" ask Aya. Arjuna.

"You donated two bags of blood. I think you better take a break. Or go eat to the cafeteria to restore your condition. I won't be able to take care of two sick people right now."

Aya's words felt uncomfortable in Arjuna's ears. "Do you want to tell me I'm weak?" the man misunderstood.

Before long the door opened. A gurney was pushed out. A man full of bandages here and there, was pushed out carefully.

"The God's Family!" call the nurse who brought a file folder.

Aya got up from her seat and approached the gurney. He could not recognize the man whose face was bruised with cuts and bandages.

"I took the patient to the room" the nurse said. He pushed the gurney, helped by another officer. Arjuna and Gayatri followed from behind.

They arrived at the nursery that Arjuna had ordered when he put the Gods into the Hospital.

"Has the operation been successful?" ask Aya. He doesn't even know what part the god operated on. By the time he got there, the Gods were already in the operating room.

"Later the doctor will come to explain the patient's condition, ma'am," replied the nurse.

The answer was disturbing for both of them. "Does that mean that God is not okay?" Aya's mind was worried again.

They've reached the room. The two nurses quickly hung a bag of intravenous fluids as well as a blood bag on his pole. A device with a computer screen is connected by wires to the body of God.

The nurse explained "This is a picture of her heartbeat. If the image on this screen changes from what it looks like now, just pull the bell to call the nurse!" a nurse's message.

Arjuna listened to his explanation carefully. But Gayatri only observed the God who still closed her eyes. His face was bruised and swollen. Around his head was wrapped in bandages.

"Has he had a head operation?" ask Aya.

"Yes, Mom. The details you can ask the surgeon who will visit later to monitor the condition of Mr. Dewa," replied the nurse quickly.

"What's the condition?" thought Aya was worried. "Will I have a disabled husband that I have to take care of for life? Is this in retaliation for my defiance as a wife for the past few days?" his mind is full of regrets.

"I'm going downstairs to find food. Hungry stomach. What are you gonna bring later?" ask Arjuna.

Aya shook her head, throwing out all the bad thoughts in her head. He didn't hear Arjuna's question at all.

"God, heal my husband again. I promise to be nice to him. It will no longer trouble him," he prayed inwardly.

Aya sat quietly in the chair next to the bed. His head was laid on the edge of the bed. While his hand was grasping the hand of a God, it was as if he really did not want to lose the man.

Arjuna who came after eating, did not want to interfere with the intimacy of the two. He laid his tired body on the long chair in the room.

Their short sleep was interrupted by the ringing sound of Gayatri's cell phone screaming shrillly.

"Are you crazy? Put a dial tone like kuntilanak on a cell phone? It's noisy!"

"God has finished head surgery. But Aya had no idea what was wrong with her head. Aya was waiting for the doctor to come to visit to know the true condition of the God," explained Gayatri.
