Arunica
My legs felt trembling when I saw the fence of the house of Bu Ida. Yes, today is the deadline where I have to pay the debt to Ms. Ida. I hesitated to continue because the money I brought did not reach the amount Ms Ida said the other day.
I just want to turn around and go home. But they will definitely come home to collect, which will make Mother sad or even hit knowing you leave a lot of debt to the loan shark.
After taking a few deep breaths, I resumed my steps to visit the house that was in sight. For the umpteenth time, apparently fate requires me to set foot here again to pay a debt that is not my debt.
“Oh, you're that, Arunika? Come here, come here! You want to pay the debt, ‘kan?” That was the first sentence I heard from the owner of rumah–suami Bu Ida, when I just passed the fence of his house that was wide open. People used to call him Master.
“Iya, Master,” I replied as I circulated the view around the home page. There's no sign of anyone else.
“Why just stand there? Here, here, sit here let her talk better.” The thick mustachioed man whose two ends curved upwards was very excited to welcome me.
I approached but refused to sit down with him. “What does Bu Ida have, Master? I want to talk to him.”
Bu Ida's husband seemed to be knitting eyebrows. “What did you talk to him about?” tanyanya. “Speaking with Mas or him is the same.” He grins. “Also your father used to borrow a motorbike from Mas. So it's your business with Mas.”
Now it's my turn to knit my eyebrows. Mas's?
“Em, sorry, Master, say–”
“Mas. Especially for you, you can call me M-A-S, Mas.” The man who already has 3 grandchildren is pressing the word mas with a voice made sensual make me feel tired. It can be just being flirtatious.
“So like this, Master–” I heard the loan shark clicked my tongue when I did not comply. But I don't care, “–it's only 6 million. The rest will be my installments every month.”
“What? Only 6 million?!” His baritone voice jolted a rough frown. His eyes also glared. His true nature comes out. “Easy once you talk will be in installments every month. Heh, Arunika, you know, before the bike was destroyed by your father, it could make 7-8 million dollars a month. And now you've come with only 6 million? Could lose me big.”
“Sorry, Master, I don't have any more money. This money I brought is also from borrowing cooperatives in the factory.” I who had just looked down answered weakly.
“What are you going to pay off each month?” ask her in a weak voice.
“I can only afford 1 million, Master.”
“Oh, no, no, no. I could be crazy for this. You think with 1 million money you can pay the salary of one of my men? I don't want to know. This afternoon you have to deliver the rest.” He took the money I had placed in front of him earlier, and stood up to enter his house.
“But, Master, I–”
“I don't want to know if you have money or not. Anyway this afternoon you or your mother should drop the money here. Otherwise, I or my men will come to your house.” He took his steps back to get inside. But because of my voice calling out his name loudly, he turned around and came up to me again with sharp nosediving eyebrows. The end of his mustache also sharpened.
“What are you talking about again?!”
“Please me, Master. I also want this debt to be paid off soon. I don't know where I can borrow money. I don't know anymore how to get money,” please really mean it. Because I tried to borrow everywhere, but no one could help.
However, even though someone lent me money, I must be too overwhelmed to pay for it. My salary is not much now even have to be cut because I have borrowed a cooperative in the textile company where I work.
“There's a way.” Instantly my face lifted hearing him had an idea. “Why don't you sell yourself?”
I gasp with his dirty idea, “Do not joke, Master!” my snoring doesn't take.
“Not to be angry like that!” he challenged my attitude that changed violently. “Here I am the one who was harmed. Anyway this afternoon the money should be there. If there is nothing, then I will force you to sell yourself,” threatened the Master with the look of his eyes that glow red, a sign of his speech is not kidding. Everything he said he always did.
The wind that came from the door leaf that had just been closed violently gushed through my confused face. Now how should I? Who am I going to ask for help? I don't want that Master to do anything crazy like he said.
