Fake Princess

Fake Princess
CHAPTER 114

Go all over the house and ask if anyone knows a girl my age, who may, or may not, look a little like me? I cannot attract the attention of those around me; after all, this is Melani village, and who knows what kind of spy she might be assigned here? But I didn't have much time to wait, and just hoped Diana would walk up to me.

In the car the traveling sculptor had nothing to really interest me, and I had already turned around, wondering about the price of a meal in the tavern, when something seems to grab and pull me. I staggered to the side until a man bartering with a traveling sculptor reached out to catch me.

“ Miss? Miss, are you okay?”

I nodded my head without looking at the man. If I tried, I wouldn't be able to look at him. Because there, looking at me from the middle of the road, with a surprised expression that must be the same as my facial expression, the princess stood up.

He looked at me, one hand raised to his chest and his face revealed a restless expression. A dented pot hung on his other hand; he had clearly come to meet the roving sculptor. But he could feel the sensation of being pulled as I felt—that was clearly visible from the way he looked at me confused.

Now the sensation was stronger, as I looked at the real Diana, than I felt when I was with Riana; a little soul was calling out the little soul that was left in me, I felt faced with something completely different. But it seemed like it was starting to fade away as I kept staring at it, as if the magic on the spell was satisfied to see me realize it and regained its calm. I took off the hand of the man who caught me and raised my hand towards the princess.

In an instant, an anxious expression like a fox gripped his face. He glared at me, his eyes narrowed to look like a straight slit, then he turned around and rushed back in the direction he had been in.

He turned between the two houses and started a small run after exiting the main road. A small path opened up from the village towards the forest, and I vaguely saw her tiny figure under the increasingly dark shadow. I followed him, but now it was getting quieter, until his path ended in a tiny house. In front of the door she glanced back and, when she saw me, turned to face me, her hands were on her hips.

“ Well,” sue, “ What do you want?”

Her small body, even smaller than mine; I noticed it as I approached her. Born with small bones, she is not tall like Riana. Even so, even in the dim forest, I could see he was a bit too thin even for someone who was indeed born with a petite body. On his mouth and eyes was a sharp and hungry expression. Even so, she is similar to the queen, if you know what to watch out for. And I, who spent my entire childhood assuming the queen was my mother, knew.

“ I—I was looking for you—“ I stammered. It was as if all the words suddenly disappeared from me; I did not know where to start, what to say. I've found the princess, I'm sure, and I can't string two words together with a needle.
