"Self injury, is a man self-harm done intentionally without any intention of suicide. Usually, self-injury sufferers vent emotions that they crave by injuring themselves. For example, slashing certain parts of the body, burning, pulling hair, hitting, banging the head against a wall, or even swallowing harmful substances."
Garda watched every sentence that came out of Nabila's mouth. The woman who works as a psychologist is the wife of Rivan. It's been a while since the Guard asked to see the woman. However, it was only today that Nabila accepted the Garda's invitation.
Seeing the face of Garda who seemed to be trying hard to digest his words, Nabila smiled faintly. "Simply put, psychically he feels a very disturbing pain. So that he shifted the pain to the physical," explained Nabila with easy-to-understand language.
The guard nodded his head in understanding. His hands were interlocked on the table with firm bodies. His sharp eyes glanced at Nabila once. "Demand and pressure from the family could be the cause?" ask Garda.
"Can" replied Nabila firmly. "People with self-injury have had trauma in the past. Or they get pressure from some things. These factors can interfere with the mental health of the patient and end up injuring himself to vent negative emotions that he has been craving" explained Nabila more detail.
Everything Nabila said was with Nadin. Garda still clearly remembers the bad events Nadin had told. Starting from the abuse he experienced as a child. Also the pressure from both parents. Worse, the pressure that Nadin got from both parents to make the woman was afraid to go back into the world of education.
"What makes them start hurting themselves?" ask Garda.
"They will start hurting themselves when they feel depressed, emotional, feeling failed, useless or other negative emotions," explained Nabila made the Guard nod in understanding.
The woman glanced at the glass of iced coffee she ordered. Take the drink and drink it a little. Trying to get rid of the discomfort in his throat from talking too much.
"The feelings of people with self-injury sufferers will be more sensitive. So, as a partner you must be smart to keep your wife's feelings, yes," said Nabila again.
"I always try my best for my wife" replied the Guard unequivocally.
"Oh yes, they will tend to do it in a place that makes them feel comfortable, safe, and calm. It could be in a room, bathroom or any place we never thought we would. So you must always be vigilant," explained Nabila again.
Actually Nabila was a bit of a difficulty. The Guard is not very active in communication. It is different with other consultants. So, the woman tried to provide information that the Guard might need.
"Have you tried to take your wife to a psychologist or psychiatrist?" ask Nabila.
The guard shook his head in response. "I've tried to persuade a few times. But he still refused. I was afraid to disturb her feelings if I kept on forcing her" replied the Guard.
Nabila smiled faintly in response to Garda's reply. The woman was quite able to understand what Nadin was feeling.
"Actually you better take your wife to a psychologist to get better treatment. But if you are afraid to make him feel depressed because you are forced, you can learn to deal with it yourself first" explained Nabila.
"How?" ask the Guard to demand.
"Be, a husband is on standby. Alert in the sense that it is always ready to be friends, friends, parents. Always listen to your wife's story, give positive affirmations to your wife. Help Nadin to stay away from everything that reminds him of his pain" Nabila explained.
The guard nodded. He also felt he had done it for Nadin. Although not yet maximal, but the Guard will continue to strive for the recovery of his wife.
"One more time, keep the sharp object out of his reach. Your wife prefers to use sharp objects, right?"
"But my wife loves to cook," replied the Guard with a plain face.
Nabila was silent for a moment. If you directly prohibit Nadin from holding sharp objects, of course, it will disturb Nadin because he likes to cook. "If so, you should be more vigilant. The point is to help Nadin to always feel calm and safe. Or you can support Nadin's cooking hobby. I'm sure Nadin would be much happier if you supported his cooking hobby."
"I will always try" the Guard replied.
"My message was always to keep her feeling. We never know what will happen in the future. We also don't know what they're really feeling and they're quiet. Even though I said that self-injury sufferers do self-harm without any intention of suicide. You need to stay alert."
The guard nodded his head. The man glanced at Nabila who was seen several times looking at his watch. Sensitive to the circumstances, the Guard chose to end its meeting for this afternoon.
"It's true said Rivan, you're pretty busy right now" the Guard said.
Nabila chuckled lightly. The woman put some of her stuff in the bag. "Sorry, it can't be much longer. I still have some business" explained Nabila.
"No problem" replied the Guard. "Thank you for taking the time to meet me. I find it very helpful with your explanation and advice."
The woman began to hang her black bag on her shoulder. His right hand held up his cell phone. "I will try to contact Nadin later" Nabila said.
"Thank you. I believe in you because you are my best friend's wife" Garda said firmly. After saying goodbye, Nabila immediately left the Guard.
Garda sighed softly. He hopes Nadin can really recover from his bad habits.
The Guard accidentally stared at a storefront filled with an array of cakes and donuts. The man weighed a little. The food is not healthy enough to consume. But, Nadin would definitely feel happy if bought the food.
Guard's sharp eyes glanced at some corners of this cafe. This place can be quite clean and well maintained. The man was again worried. If the front is clean not necessarily the kitchen is also clean, right?
"ah! Sometimes not papa," said Garda. The man walked towards the storefront. Start choosing some types of cakes that look attractive.
...
"Yey! My husband's home!"
Nadin's happy voice welcomed the arrival of the Guard. The man immediately got a warm hug from Nadin.
"Today I cooked the same sweet sour shrimp stir-fry kale," said Nadin with a faithful face sparkling.
The guard smiled gently. The man embraces Nadin's shoulder and guides the woman into the house deeper. "Today is fun?" ask Garda.
Nadin nodded with enthusiasm. The girl held up a plate containing several pieces of papaya fruit. "I drink milk the same as eating fruit" said Nadin proudly.
"That's smart," praised the Guard sincerely. The man put the luggage on the kitchen table. Sit on an empty chair to rest her body for a moment.
Nadin who had memorized the Garda habit immediately rushed to get a glass of warm water. "I was watching a cooking show on tv. They cooked the sour shrimp sweet, so I followed, deh," said Nadin as he placed a glass of water in front of the Guard.
"Definitely delicious," the Guard replied.
Nadin's eyes stared at a plastic package that had been carried by the Guard. His face was radiant looking at the picture of the cake in the plastic. "This is what, Mas?" ask Nadin.
The guard grabbed the plastic and opened it. Nadin's face was increasingly radiant to see a box that he was very familiar with. "Gift because you're smart today" Garda said.
Nadin immediately snatched the cake box from the hands of the Guard. Of course, the Guards welcomed Nadin's action. "Hehe thank you, yes, my dear," said Nadin so sweetly.
The woman began to see what the Guard had brought. It turns out that some pieces of various flavored cakes and donuts. Of course, Nadin's happy face was immediately emblazoned beautifully.
Nadin put the cake box back in his hand. The woman stood up and hugged the body of the Guard. "Thank you, yes, my husband" said Nadin.
The Guard returned Nadin's embrace. It feels a little strange to the Guard. Usually Nadin will drown in the chest of his field. Now even that man is in Nadin's chest.
"You likey?" ask Garda.
"Like it" replied Nadin in a voice that sounded so joyful.
After taking off his embrace. Nadin again sat down on the side seat of the Guard. His clear eyes observed one by one the food arranged in the box. Choose which one will go into his mouth.
"Nad," call the Guard.
"What dear?" nadin asked without looking at the Guard. For Nadin these pastries are more interesting now.
"That can't happen, yeah! I just ngizinin you eat food from the outside this time alone," Garda warned.
Hearing that made Nadin look straight at him. The woman smiled until her row of white teeth were seen. "Hehe knows my husband" said Nadin innocently.
