My House Of Horrors
3: Nightmare Mission

"I know you're still not entirely sure about the existence of ghosts in the world; then, what about the little game? The truth will be revealed when you open your eyes."

As mentioned earlier, the description of the Nightmare Mission is very vague; however, it gives a creepy vibe.

"Looking at the introduction, it should involve some kind of game, but how can playing the game be a Nightmare Mission?"

In order to complete the Normal Mission, Chen Ge had been working non-stop for several hours. He had just successfully completed repairing all the puppets. As he toyed with the phone, Chen Ge's curiosity appeared. "Should I try?"

The moment that thought appeared, it grew and developed like vines attacking every corner of his mind.

"The Nightmare Mission gave the best reward, and since I couldn't complete the Easy and Normal Missions given today, this is my best bet."

The Haunted House will close if he is unable to stay in the season. Chen Ge knew how precarious the situation was. It was pure luck that he had found this ray of hope, so naturally, he would not let the opportunity pass him by.

"So. Finally, I had to apply for the Nightmare Mission, so why not now-" Sitting on the bed, Chen Ge clicked on the last mission.

"Are you sure you want to accept the Nightmare Mission? Once accepted, unknown circumstances may occur."

"Yes, yeah."

The phone turns on, and the details of the actual mission appear.

"It takes a lot of courage, incredible luck, and a little help to see the hidden world. The game we played was called 'Another You in the Mirror'.

Go into the bathroom alone at 02:04, close the door, and turn off the lights. Face the mirror and light a candle between you and it. Then, close your eyes and focus; you can then start by slowly mentioning your name.

"Anything can happen in the dark; maybe there will be a foreign face appearing in the mirror, or maybe there is a pair of eyes hiding in the corner watching you, or blood may drip from the ceiling or walls. No matter what happens All you have to do is make sure that you stay still and stand in front of the mirror quietly."

"After half an hour, the mission will be completed automatically, provided you don't open your eyes no matter what happens in that half hour."

After reading the mission introduction, Chen Ge's heart throbbed in fear. "Could there be a world hidden from normal eyes?"

It was still some time before it was allocated 02:04. Instead of moving to the bathroom, Chen Ge started doing research online. Chen Ge managed to find some additional information about this supposed game, and they were all ghost stories.

Some say they are cursed after they play this game, while others mention losing a friend or family member, convinced that they are drawn into a mirror world.

"Every one of these voices is very authentic." The more he read, the more interested Chen Ge became.

After all, she is the operator of the Haunted House; her daily practice is finding new ways to scare people, in a safe environment of course. As he read the information for this game, he felt as if a new world was opening before his eyes.

"It's weird to play such a scary game in the middle of the night inside the Ghost House!"

He checked the battery level of his phone; he felt like recording this important event.+

He combed the room in search of candles and matches. When the clock showed at 2 am, he brought the prepared objects and moved towards the bathroom on the first floor of the Haunted House.

The reason he did this 'game' in the first floor toilet was also a calculated decision from Chen Ge's side. If something dangerous happened during the process, he could at least jump straight out the window to save himself.

The Haunted House was very quiet at night. A young man who refused to turn on the lights to save electricity entered a narrow, narrow toilet with a flashlight and candles.

"The dark and claustrophobic environment is best for evoking the feeling of fear in one's heart. The toilet is usually the place that has the most yin energy in the building. Mirrors and water tanks, these items may not be more commonplace, but these everyday items can often be used to increase psychological distress. The person behind the game is very smart, they know how to take advantage of the weaknesses that are often found in the human heart, and as a result, they can create a frightening atmosphere with the simplest objects and conditions. " Chen Ge found this the perfect opportunity to improve his skills.

"The actual "terror does not require expensive setup. It just needs to highlight and increase the anxiety inherent in the human heart." Chen Ge took a deep breath and took note of her phone.

"I don't know what effect this game will have, but if anything happens to me, I hope the person who invented this phone will keep this video because it is key, he said, a valuable key to unlocking many layers of fraud . "

Then, Chen Ge placed the phone next to the tank. He set the angle until the camera could capture the person and the mirror opposite him.

"It's 2:01 in the morning, three more minutes."

Waiting for death is more frightening than death itself. The stillness of the toilet reinforces all sorts of sounds or echoes in the room. As the seconds passed, Chen Ge's heart started to beat fast.

He saw time on the phone. When the minute hand pointed to four, he turned off the flashlight and lit the candle. Following the instructions, he placed it between the mirror and himself.

Fire dancing became the only source of light in the dark. It was flashing and rotating between the real world and the mirror world. It might act like a kind of hint light, showing the way for whatever is in the mirror.

Chen Ge looked at his reflection in the mirror, and he felt strange. "Was the game started."

He lowered his head and closed his eyes before starting to mutter his name gently.

"Chen Ge, Chen Ge, Chen Ge ..."

Repetition of one's name will create a psychological distance between it and oneself. Eventually, even a person's name would sound strange in one's ears. This theory is similar to how after seeing certain Chinese characters over and over again, people will eventually forget how to write them when asked.

In order to prevent the psychological effects from befalling himself, every time Chen Ge shouted his name, he would leave behind a space of three seconds. In this way, he also counted down the time.

After all, the requirement for a successful mission was to close his eyes for half an hour no matter the disturbance.

Stand in front of a mirror and play a game that only involves a 2am candle inside Haunted House alone ... If I hadn't done this myself, I wouldn't even believe anyone would have done something this stupid. Chen Ge continued to mention his name as various random thoughts entered his mind.

The game is filled with psychological terror; the most difficult part is not facing the ghosts or legends that should be, but stopping your mind from straying and forming scary scenarios to scare yourself. As long as you don't open your eyes, everything will be fine.

However, it was easier said than done, because ten minutes after the game started, something did happen.
