A few minutes before the incident.
That morning, was the toughest day that would have been a Rico decision. The man regulated his breathing and facial expression several times before starting the day.
Looking up with a resolute jaw that solidified his face, Rico walked with steady intentions. Entering the work space usually inhabited by him and Farhan every day. The man was carrying files and some documents that he had prepared about a month ago.
"Good morning, sir." The soft greeting came out of Rico's lips when the door had just opened. The man immediately sat down in front of Farhan, then placed the file he brought on his boss' desk.
"What's wrong with your face?" Farhan begins to get suspicious when he sees an unusual look on Rico's face. The man immediately looked straight at Farhan, not wanting any further pleasantries, Rico immediately explained the fact, saying,
"I'm sorry, sir, this is probably the toughest decision I've ever made in my life's history. Actually—" Rico hangs his words. His heart is very sick, his lips instantly mute. His heart thumped like it was hit by a hammer. Somehow, the reality that he had been thinking about for a night to disappear swallowed by nervousness.
"What do you mean!" With one hand on his chin, Farhan glanced at the secret document wrapped in a brown envelope. Quite striking and making his mind fixed.
"What documents did you bring?" He asked while looking at the document. His hazel eyes narrowed, curious about the contents.
Rico is getting heavier, as if he's about to let go of his life right now. But he still answered whatever happened. "The document is the data of the new employee, sir," the man replied in an uncomfortable voice.
"New employee?" Farhan frowned, astonished. "What does a new employee have to do with me, usually you also directly recruit him without telling me first." Farhan had already taken out a pen to sign some files that had piled up from yesterday. His eyes fell, starting to focus on his work.
Rico breathed deeply. Then answer with one steady breath. "He is the man I hired to replace me, sir."
Farhan sontak.
The ballpoint pen fell like a scene in a soap opera. The man widened with a piercing glare. Killing, as if translucent to the heart of Rico.
"Are you crazy?" The man leaned over, picking up the pen that fell under it with trembling hands. Then he ventured to look at Rico fixedly, his breathing deliberately arranged as quietly as possible to cover the various raging flavors.
"Tell me what you want, I'll give it to you. No need to threaten me with disgusting things." Farhan was still trying to dismiss all the bad possibilities. Trying to stay positive that everything Rico said was just a joke.
"Don't be crazy, Rico! I'll never let that happen. You promised yourself that you'd stay by my side." Farhan recalled the sentence Rico used to say if the man forgot. Farhan will never forget that, he vividly remembers every word Rico said, a promise patterned sentence that could strengthen Farhan's life until he was at his present point.
I'm sorry, Sir. I have no choice but to take this path. As Rico had expected, Farhan was unlikely to let Rico off easily. Moreover, his departure would be a bad start to his relationship with Farhan.
"Go back to your table Rico." Farhan is still trying to be patient with the words of Rico which he still considers as a game.
"I'm sorry once again Sir, with a heavy heart I must renege on my promise in the past. I hope you will understand."
Rico looked at Farhan with a smile. His bead of eyes contained a trace of seriousness, making Farhan almost insane to hear his words.
"Here you go, come back to your desk, I don't want to joke this early." He turned his gaze on the laptop screen again. Trying to cover the fear shakes that gnawed at the soul from earlier.
"Guard you, I am serious! This month is the last time I'm working with you. May—"
Prangs!
The glass glass Farhan threw against the wall made Rico's guts shrink instantly. He had not yet delivered a message of impression and prayer for Farhan. But Farhan had already begun to knit a line of enmity with him. Rico could read the extraordinary look of wrath on the man's face. Without a weapon, those eyes were capable of killing Rico's entire body right now.
"Stop discussing such absurd things Rico, I'll assume you never said them at all."
Proudly, Farhan turned his gaze in all directions. Trying to gather consciousness that began to scatter.
