The weather this morning was unfriendly, drizzling spots were still felt when the car that Arsen was driving out of our garage. This black car immediately mingled with heavy traffic, because our house was on the edge of the highway. Me and Arsen just went to the hospital together, without Xavier.
"The same story as me, what are you currently experiencing? I know this has not been the schedule for routine checks" said Arsen, whose hands were busy controlling the steering wheel.
My stomach felt tight again, I just rubbed my stomach to calm them down.
"It's okay, it's just a lumbago anyway," I replied. I deliberately did not tell about the red spots on my underwear when I went to the bathroom earlier.
"Really?" Arsen doesn't believe I'm okay. Am I not good at acting?
"So really, it's been my focus, let's just get to the hospital."
"But you're weird, honey. In the meantime, Dr. Nayla must not have been to the hospital."
"I'm on the phone, she's getting ready for the hospital" I replied. Then, I re-opened the online messaging and calling app.
It's true, Doctor Nayla said she'll be in the hospital soon because it's nearing my due date.
Because there was an accident, the traffic became quite jammed. The two cars that collided closed the road, creating a traffic jam severe enough to be seen from the rear view of the car.
"Oh, I think it's a while, honey, are you really okay? Do we call an ambulance, do we just have the car?" ask Arsen who is now starting to worry.
"It's okay my husband dear, have waited a moment, later if I'm not strong then we think again," I replied.
"I'm afraid you're the one here" Arsen said as he rubbed my tight stomach.
"Udah deh Dad, don't make me panic, see they survived it, like there were no casualties." I pointed at some people who were helped out of the car.
"Yes, if so."
We waited about an hour, until the traffic accident was resolved. During that time, I had already felt my amniotic fluid seeping out, but, I deliberately did not tell Arsen.
During the trip to the hospital, I held back the contractions that occasionally came attacking, as if re*mas my flesh, and would plunge my bones.
Every time the feeling came, I threw away my face to hide the expression of enduring the pain. I don't want Arsen to panic and panic me either.
"Your clothes are so wet, my dear." Arsen looked panicked.
"Yes, stop!" I stopped talking because I endured the excruciating pain, briefly and then disappeared again. "Udah from now on, Dad. I'm okay, I can still walk," I continued.
A security officer approached us. "Do you need help, sir, Mom?" ask the officer.
"Yes, Sir. My wife wants to give birth" replied Arsen.
"Em, I can still walk alone, still strong," I said. Then I got out of the car with Arsen.
"Darling, you really don't have any way there?" ask Arsen.
Luckily, I was able to reach the ER room safely.
Arsen talked to medics who kept asking questions about what happened. Unfortunately, due to the pain that came more and more often, I could no longer answer their questions, and Arsen did not really understand the details.
After the midwife did the opening check, it turned out to have opened eight, and I was immediately taken to the delivery room. Arsen's face panicked as we reached the delivery room. Doctor Nayla also seemed ready to help me deliver.
"Darling, I haven't had time to call Mama, am I calling now?" ask Arsen.
I shook my head and held her hand, I wanted to be accompanied by Arsen every second until my babies were born.
"We're just two, honey. Just like Doctor Nayla," Arsen said.
"Later," I answered with great difficulty.
